Flexible, fulfilling work that fits the school run.

A 12-week course and community for mums ready to swap stress, childcare guilt and dead-end jobs for freedom, confidence and desirable skills as a Virtual Assistant.

Feel like you’re being forced to choose between your career and your kids?

You’re not alone.

Maybe you’re on maternity leave, already dreading the return to a rigid job.
Or your youngest has just started school, and you’re wondering: what now?

The truth is, truly flexible, school-hour jobs are rare.
You ask in Facebook groups and get the same replies:
“Sweat Lots Cleaning is always hiring.”
“Hard Graft Carers are looking again.”

And while those jobs matter, they’re not your path.
You’ve built real skills. You’ve earned experience. You deserve more.

What if the answer isn’t forcing yourself back into a system that doesn’t work?

What if you could build a flexible, fulfilling business - from home, between the school runs - with support, structure, and a community that gets it?

“I just wanted to say thanks for setting up this course, I’ve learnt so much and it’s given me the structure and the confidence to actually market myself and value my services. I got another 2 emails yesterday about doing projects, so the ball is very definitely rolling!! All very exciting!!” (AMS 2025)

Introducing: The School Run Society

A supportive 12-week course and membership for women ready to start working as Virtual Assistants (VAs), using the skills they already have.

No need to figure it all out alone. No MLMs, no fluff.

  • Practical, bite-sized lessons

  • Weekly live Q&As and co-working

  • A ready-made community of like-minded mums

  • A job board and templates to help you land clients fast

It’s time to build work around your life…

…not the other way around.

I’ve completed my first four months going solo. Am loving it, and have hit the financial target I set myself!
— JD 2026
Without you and this group of fantastic women I would have ended up in another job that I hated... instead I’ve found some confidence and belief in myself and I’m doing something I actually enjoy and am actually good at!
— KG 2026
I never thought I could juggle being a solo parent whilst being a decent mum and bringing in a decent income while working from home. I love having our little supportive team, it’s like all having our own group of cheerleaders!
— AMS 2026
I don’t have the right words to describe how fantastic it is! The best group of ladies proving as always that women can root for other women!
— IJ 2026

FAQs

I’m Hannah - your Head Girl here at The School Run Society...

Hannah Hemstock, a woman with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a dark floral top, smiling at the camera in a cosy living room with pillows on a grey sofa in the background.

…and founder of You Need a Hannah. I’m a mum, a business support expert, and someone who knows exactly what it feels like to be stuck between motherhood and a career that no longer fits.

After years in a fast-paced corporate role, I returned from maternity leave to a “flexible” job that ticked the boxes - but didn’t light me up. I knew I had more to offer, but I didn’t want to start from scratch or sacrifice time with my daughter. It took time (and a global pandemic) to realise I could do things differently.

Now, I run a successful freelance business helping small businesses thrive - and I want to help other mums do the same. The School Run Society was born from a deep belief that mums shouldn’t have to choose between purpose and presence.

You can build a career that works around school hours, and you don’t have to do it alone.

Ready to build a working life that actually works for you and your family?

“Week 1 made it really easy to get going and start thinking about yourself in the role of a VA. What would you do, who would you work with, what's your aim and what's a no-go... it feels really broad so it allows you the space to discover your skills and really think about your foundation for this new exciting step. Can't wait for week 2!” (Ioana)
